Valorant shares a new agent called Gekko

Just prior to the VALORANT Champions Tour 2023: LOCK//IN Sao Paulo grand finals earlier today, the 22nd Valorant new agent was unveiled and performed in a show match while Riot developer Ryan Cousart describes the agent’s potential in great detail. Following is what we know thus far about Gekko, the sixth Valorant initiator.

Who is Gekko?

Valorant Gekko

Gekko Valorant’s scheduled debut

On March 7, 2023, Gekko and VALORANT Episode 6 Act 2 are anticipated to appear in Valorant. Most likely, this date is valid.

If not, however, Gekko’s release date should be May 9, 2023, the start of VALORANT Episode 6 Act 3.

Analysing Abilities of Gekko

Dizzy (E)

FIRE to send Dizzy forward into the air. Dizzy charges up and sends out beams at enemies in their line of sight. When enemies are hit, they are blinded. When Dizzy Expires, they turn into a glob which can be picked up to be used again after a short cooldown.

Interact: To recapture the globule and, following a brief cooldown, acquire another Dizzy charge.

Dizzy can be launched through the air by Gekko. The enemies are charged by Dizzy, who then blasts them with a plasma blast, blinding them. The finest part of Dizzy is that it becomes a globule after being used once, which Gekko can then gather for an additional charge.

Mosh Pit (C)

Gekko’s area-damaging Mosh Pit ability, which deploys similarly to KillJoy’s Nanoswarm ability by providing a far-reaching primary throw or sneaky small-range alternate throw, is the second component of his toolkit to be highlighted.

  • Equip: Mosh
  • Fire: To throw Mosh like a grenade
  • ALT Fire: To throw underhand

Upon landing, Mosh duplicates across a large area and then after a short delay explodes.

To clean out nooks and crannies, a moshpit is quite helpful. The Moshpit can be thrown like a grenade to clear particular regions. The vast area that Mosh covers make it one of Gekko’s most underestimated skills.

Wingman (Q)

Equip: Wingman FIRE to send Wingman forward seeking enemies. Wingman fires a shockwave blast at the first opponent he comes across.

Alt Fire: When aiming a planted spike or spike site have Wingman defuse or plant the spike. To plant, Gekko must have the Spike in his inventory. Wingman transforms back into a dormant globule after expiring

Thrash (X)

  • Equip: Thrash
  • Fire: To link with Thrash’s Mind and steer her through enemy territory

Activate: To rush forward and explode, immobilizing any enemies around. Thrash transforms back into a dormant globule after expiring.

Interact: After a short cooldown, reclaim the globule and acquire another Thrash charge. You can recover trash once.

Steer Thrash toward enemies (it works similarly to Skye’s flash). You can activate it to lunge forward. It will capture the enemy if it strikes them. The detain is pretty powerful when used in combination with other Gekko abilities. When combined with other Gekko powers, detention is quite effective.

After the first one expires, Gekko can gather his ultimate for another charge. The ability to collect it for another charge is something that is completely unique.

Overall, Gekko is a welcome addition to the Valorant agent roster. His unique abilities make him a versatile agent that can be useful in a variety of situations. Players should experiment with different strategies to see how they can best use Gekko in a game.
